How to use goHappy's segmentation tools to target the right group of people from your contacts
Understanding Our New Segmentation Features
Our new segmentation tools give you powerful ways to connect with your frontline employees based on specific data about them. You can now easily create custom groups of employees based on any information in goHappy. This could be things like their job title, where they work, how long they’ve been with your company, or whether they are full time or part time. You can even create automatic messages based on these groups.
How Does Segmentation Work?
Our segmentation tool uses "and"/"or" logic to help you build the perfect group. Here’s what that means:
- "And" Logic: All conditions must be true. If you choose “and,” you are narrowing your group. For example, you might want to contact employees who have been with your company for at least 30 days and work in a specific location and have the title of “Supervisor.” All three things must be true for an employee to be part of this group.
- "Or" Logic: Any one condition can be true. If you choose “or,” you’re making your group broader. For example, you might want to message employees who work in Region A or Region B. As long as an employee works in one of those regions, they will get your message.
You can also combine "and" and "or" logic to make more complex groups.
Example Scenarios
New Hire Message: You want to send an automated welcome message to employees who have been with the company for exactly 15 days and work in either Location A or Location B. You would set the conditions like this:-
- Hire Date: was 15 days ago
-
- Location: "Location A" or "Location B"
- Job Title: "General Manager"
- Region: "Southwest"
Custom anniversary triggers by location: You want to set up a work anniversary trigger for any employees whose hire date is the current date, and who are in a specific department or work at a specific location:
- Hire Date: anniversary is on the current date
- Add condition:
- Department: is any of "HR", "Accounting"
-
- Location: is "Short Pump"
With our latest update, this new segmentation capability is available across several important areas:
- Triggers (Automated Messages): Set up rules to automatically send messages based on segmentation. For example, you can create a trigger to send a message to employees on their 15th day of employment. You can set up different automatic messages for employees based on their job title, so managers and frontline employees can receive different messages.
- Reusable Contact Lists: Easily create and save segmented groups of employees for future use. This makes sending messages to specific groups even faster.
- User Permissions: Assign permissions based on specific employee segments, ensuring the right users have access to the right information.
Each of these components will include the updated segmentation experience, making it easier than ever to reach the exact group of employees you need.
Rules & Conditions
Rules are made up of conditions. Each condition in a rule gets checked, and if all the conditions in that rule are true, the rule is true. Then, the system looks at the results of all the rules to make a final decision. So, conditions are like the pieces that make up a rule, and rules work together to create the final result.
Automating Messages
One of the most powerful things about this feature is that you can automate messages based on these segments. For example, you can automatically send a message to employees on their 15th day, 30th day, or even their one-year anniversary. You can also create rules to send updates to people based on their job title and region, making sure the right people get the right messages.
By using segmentation and automation together, you’ll save time and make sure your employees feel connected and informed.
Real-Time Updates with "View Matches"
As you build your segmentation criteria, our "View Matches" feature instantly shows your matching contacts in real-time. This allows you to see exactly which employees match your criteria, giving you immediate feedback on how your segment is shaping up. Whether you’re creating a contact list or setting up an automated message, you can be confident that the right people are included as you fine-tune your segment.
