Use Contact Impersonation to preview the intranet exactly as any employee sees it. Filter by role, location, or other data, and verify content visibility with just a few clicks.
👤 Contact Impersonation
The Contact Impersonation tool allows intranet admins to preview the exact intranet experience of any employee based on the contact data in your system (location, job title, department, etc.). This is helpful for testing access rules, confirming visibility, and ensuring the right people see the right content.
🔍 Default Preview View
When you click Preview from the Intranet dashboard, you'll start in the default employee view. This shows all content visible to employees who meet the general access criteria (no segmentation applied).
🔄 Changing the Contact to Impersonate
To see the intranet from the perspective of a specific employee or role:
- Click the “Change Contact” button in the purple header.
- A modal will appear with your organization’s contact criteria filters.
- Use filters such as:
- Location
- Job Title
- Region
- Department
- Custom fields from your employee data feed
- Location
✅ Selecting an Employee to Impersonate
Once you’ve narrowed your search:
- A list of matching contacts will appear.
- Click Impersonate next to any contact to preview the intranet as that specific person.
👁️ Viewing the Intranet as That Employee
After selecting a contact:
- The intranet preview will refresh.
- The header will update to show “Impersonating as [Employee Name]”.
- You’ll see exactly what that employee would see, including folders and content restricted by segmentation.
