Setting Up Tremendous for Rewards & Payouts

This guide walks you through connecting your goHappy account with Tremendous to enable digital rewards, gift cards, and payout options for your employees.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Admin access to your goHappy account
  • Business information ready (company name, tax ID, address)

 

Overview

Tremendous is goHappy's reward fulfillment partner, offering employees a wide selection of payout options including:

  • Gift Cards - Hundreds of brands available
  • Prepaid Cards - Visa prepaid cards
  • Digital Payments - PayPal, Venmo, ACH transfers
  • Charitable Donations - Let recipients donate to charity

 

Setup Process

Step 1: Contact Type

Select which group of employees will be eligible to receive Rewards points.

- Choose your Active Employees contact group
- You can also select a pre-built List if you want to limit Rewards to a specific subset of employees
- Only one contact group can be selected
- This selection is permanent and cannot be changed after setup

 ✅ Tip: New employees don't need to be manually added. As long as they appear in your HRIS or payroll file, they will automatically be included in the eligible group.
 

Step 2: Reward Currency

Name your points and choose an icon to represent them.

- Enter what you want to call your points — for example, "Points," "Stars," "Coins," or something branded to your company like "Epic Stars".  You can change the name at any point.
- Select a graphic to visually represent your currency. Options include: Points, Coins, Stars, Trophies, Hearts, Tokens, Smilies, Kudos, or **Custom** (upload your own image)
- The exchange rate is fixed: 100 points = $1.00

💡 Example: If you name your currency "Epic Stars" and an employee earns 500 Epic Stars, that's worth $5.00 at redemption.
 

Step 3: Reward Automation(Optional)

Set up which events automatically award points to employees.

This is where you configure the rules that make Rewards run on autopilot. You can enable any combination of the following:

Shout-Outs - Employees earn points each time a manager gives them a Shout-Out
Birthday - Employees automatically earn points on their birthday
Anniversary - Employees automatically earn points on their work anniversary
New Hire Survey - Employees earn points for completing a New Hire Survey
Engagement Survey - Employees earn points for completing an Engagement Survey

Once enabled, you can configure the point values and rules for that automation.

💡 Annual Cost Estimate: As you enable automations and set point values, the system automatically calculates your estimated annual spend — including points per employee per year, cost per employee per year, and total cost across all employees. This estimate assumes an 80% redemption rate (20% breakage). Use this to plan your budget before launching.

All automations can be turned on at the same time. They can also be edited at any time after setup under Setup → Reward Automation.
 

Step 4: Initiate Connection from goHappy to Tremendous

  1. Review the Tremendous integration information
  2. Click Connect to Tremendous at the bottom of the page

Step 5: Check Your Email

  1. You'll see an overview screen, click Get started
  2. Input your email address
  3. Look for an email in your inbox to verify your identity
  4. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder or click resend it
  5. Click the link in the email to continue setup

Step 6: Authorize goHappy

  1. You'll be redirected to Tremendous where you'll see an authorization request
  2. Review the permissions goHappy needs:
  3. Click Authorize to grant permissions for goHappy to use your Tremendous account

Step 7: Create Your Tremendous Account

Business Information (Part 1)

Complete the business information form with:

  • Your full name
  • Registered company name
  • DBA (if applicable) - Optional
  • Company structure (select from dropdown)
  • Tax ID # or Company registration #

Click Save and continue

Business Information (Part 2)

Provide your business address details:

  • Street address
  • City
  • State
  • Zip code
  • Country

Indicate if you have a website or social media profile:

  • Select Yes or No
  • If Yes, enter your website or social media URL

Click Save and continue

Review the information and click Submit

Step 8: Fund Your Account

After completing business verification, you'll need to fund your Tremendous account before sending rewards. Follow the prompts to add funds to your account.

Step 9: Wait for Approval

Tremendous will review your account information. This typically takes one business day. You'll receive an email notification once your account is approved.

Step 10: Complete Setup

Once approved, return to your goHappy dashboard. You may need to reconnect Tremendous to finalize the integration.

After setup is complete, you can:

  • Configure automated reward triggers
  • Set point values and redemption options
  • Start recognizing employees with rewards
  • View reward analytics and payout reports
