goHappy can now serve as the source of truth for your employees’ preferred language. This makes it easier to deliver all messages, triggers, and keyword responses in the right language for each person.
Step 1: Choose the Preferred Language Survey Template

In the self-service survey flow, select the Preferred Language template.

This one-question survey captures each contact’s preferred language.

A Customer Success Manager (CSM) can also activate the survey for you.
Step 2: Set Visibility

The survey will automatically be marked as Private • Tracked so the system can store each contact’s language value.
Step 3: Select the Contact Type

Choose the contact type (e.g., Employees) you want to collect language values for.
- You can only assign one survey per contact type. Any contact types with associated Preferred Language surveys will show as disabled on this step.
Step 4: Configure the Survey

The survey is ready to use with the default question: “Please select your preferred language for company communications.”

Contacts can search in English or their own language to find the right option.

You can edit the question if needed, but no changes are required.
Step 5: Send the Survey

Choose whether to send a message with the survey link or share another way.

You can also include it as part of a new hire trigger to collect preferred language right away.
- You can also link a keyword to the survey, allowing employees to take it anytime on demand.
Step 6: How Values Are Stored

goHappy creates a new data source linking each contact’s ID to their preferred language.

This source is automatically associated with the main contact type.

Daily imports won’t overwrite language values.

Surveys can also be tied to a keyword, letting employees update their language anytime. The most recent choice will always be used.
Step 7: Monitor Survey Responses

You can track progress in the Survey Dashboard, where results and individual responses are displayed.

Once enough responses are collected to identify the needed languages for your workforce, your goHappy CSM can update your account keywords and triggers so they send messages in the right language automatically.
